CARE holds annual Ski Clinic

On Monday, February 16, seven children joined CARE for Children for CARE's annual Adaptive Ski Outing at Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville, NY. Each child was paired with volunteer instructors from the Holiday Valley Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program, a chapter of Move United, who provided expert, one-on-one instruction throughout the day.

The Adaptive Ski Outing is part of CARE's therapeutic recreation programming, which extends the work children do in traditional therapy into real-world, community-based settings. Getting out on the slopes gives kids the chance to build fine and gross motor skills, connect with peers, and experience the joy of lifelong activity and fitness.

A big thank you to everyone who made the day possible: the Rotary Club of Port Allegany, who sponsored the event including lift tickets; Monroe St. Brick & Brew in Ellicottville, who donated pizzas; and Todd Busses, who provided transportation. CARE's therapeutic recreation program is also supported in part by an annual grant from the United Way of the Bradford Area, Inc.
