CARE for Children Hosts 100th Anniversary Donor Reception

In honor of CARE’s 100th anniversary, citations were issued by the City of Bradford, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and the Pennsylvania Senate.

CARE for Children hosted a Donor Reception on Thursday evening, October 10, 2024 at the Bradford Club.  The event honored the organization’s dedicated supporters and celebrated CARE’s 100th anniversary of ‘Shaping Childhoods.’

In honor of CARE’s centennial anniversary, citations were issued by the City of Bradford, presented by Terry Lopus, Bradford City Council; the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, presented by Ron Orris, Executive Director of the Philo and Sarah Blaisdell Foundation; and the Pennsylvania Senate, presented by Tamara Bleggi, Constituent Relations Specialist for Senator Cris Dush.

“For the last 100 years, CARE has prided itself on helping children grow and thrive by working side by side with parents, family members, early childhood providers, our schools and the community at-large,” noted Tyler R. Hannah, CARE board president.  “Through a centennial of service, whether by its original name, the McKean County Society for Crippled Children, later on the McKean County Easter Seals Society, then McKean County C.A.R.E. for Children and now simply CARE for Children, CARE has grown in impact and maintained a legacy of positively shaping childhoods.”

During the program, the organization also unveiled the establishment of the CARE for Children Legacy Society which recognizes donors who have generously remembered CARE for Children in their estate planning.  Those donors, with gracious foresight, have enabled CARE to continue to expand services, invest in new programs, establish a pro-employee culture, build and maintain a beautiful facility, and ensure CARE’s sustainability for years to come.  The Endowment also supports the Rotary Special Assistance Fund helping CARE families in need cover expenses and “little extras” not covered by insurance.

In addition to the CARE for Children Legacy Society, the board has designated the CARE for Children Endowment, held at CNB Bank and managed by 1865 Wealth Advisors, as a donor vehicle for planned giving. The fund will provide donors with an avenue to give contributions that will have a lasting impact on CARE services and programs and support free services such as child safety, family support, developmental screenings and therapeutic recreation.
